Charlotte high school freshman killed in crash

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Authorities said a 14-year-old Charlotte girl died in a wreck Monday afternoon when she was ejected from an SUV that flipped several times.

WSOC-TV reported that Tierra Warren was ejected from the front passenger seat after authorities said her older brother driving lost control.

Officials said Tierra Warren she was pronounced dead after being taken to Carolinas Medical Center-University.

Authorities said the siblings were coming home from Rocky River High School, where they both attended. Tierra Warren was a freshman and Dayron Warren a senior.

Police said there were other passengers in the SUV who were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials said Dayron Warren was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and reckless driving.

A school spokesperson said the school would have grief counselors on hand Tuesday for students.
