WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police are investigating a single-vehicle collision involving an 18-wheel tractor-trailer and the median guardrail on U. S. 421 South, near the Jonestown Road Bridge.
David Perrell was operating a 1996 Kenworth tractor-trailer at the time of the collision and was treated at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
This incident has caused a lane closure of the two inside lanes of southbound U. S. 421.
Clean-up efforts are underway and could take until 8 a.m. Friday, according to NCDOT.
This lane closure has resulted in traffic delays for motorists traveling in this area.
The Winston-Salem Police Department and NCDOT urges motorists to consider utilizing an alternate travel route other than traveling on this portion of U. S. 421 South, which is a common thoroughfare while traveling from the Lewisville/Clemmons area toward downtown Winston-Salem.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
