WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The suspect in a Kernersville dispute and break-in was arrested Thursday after allegedly leading Winston-Salem police on a chase.

Two subjects who knew each other were involved in a dispute in the 700-block of West Mountain Street. When one individual was not let inside a residence he kicked the door in.

There is no evidence that anything was taken from the home, though police did call the incident an attempted robbery. The subject fled the residence some time after kicking the door in.

Police said they saw the suspect’s car at Barbara Jane Avenue and Chandler Street off Old Greensboro Road.

After a short chase, police said the driver crashed into a light pole at Old Greensboro and Edna Street and the driver ran off.

The suspect was caught shortly later by officers and taken to the magistrate’s office.

The suspect was identified as Barry Richardson, 21, of Winston-Salem. He was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell or deliver, felony speeding to elude arrest, resisting a public officer, possession of marijuana and numerous traffic related charges.

He was placed in custody with no bond.
