Man found dead, wife injured in Lexington

LEXINGTON, N.C. — Davidson County deputies said a man was found dead and his wife injured at their home Wednesday in Lexington.

William Luther Hughes, 71, was found dead at 1224 Old Hwy 109 after deputies said they responded to a report of shots being fired.

Deputies said William Hughes’ wife, 70-year-old Virgie Lambeth Hughes, was also found with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

They both lived at the home, according to deputies. Details on the investigation have not been released.

Authorities said there are currently no other people being sought in connection to the incident.
