With the new year comes new taxes in North Carolina.

For many of us it will mean paying a little more for some of those things we enjoy doing.

Starting tomorrow, there will be one flat state tax rate of 5.8 percent instead of the current three-tier system that tops out at 7.75 percent.

While the tax rate is lower, residents will now be paying new taxes on some services.
