Suspect sought in string of armed robberies

BURLINGTON, N.C. -- Police are looking for a man they believe is responsible for a string of armed robberies at five different Burlington businesses since Nov. 25.

The armed robberies took place at Payless Shoes on University Drive, Dollar General on Alamance Road, Sally's Beauty Supply on Maple Avenue, Home Depot on Kirkwood Drive and Food Lion on Alamance Road.

"Well certainly around the holiday season we have seen spike in not only robberies but other types of retail theft or property crimes so its not an inconsistent pattern. But the same suspect five times within less that 30 days is a concern to us," Lt. Brian Long, with Burlington Police, said.

Suspect1jpgAll incidents occurred on different days except Sally's and Home Depot, which were both robbed on Dec. 20.

In each incident the suspect displayed or threatened the use of a firearm.

Police say these robberies are also believed to be linked to two robberies in Mebane and two in Greensboro since Nov. 22.

The suspect is described as a black male with facial hair and freckles 5’8”, 200-220 pounds.

He is believed to have used a 2002-2007 black Buick Rendezvous during some of the robberies.

Alamance Crime Stoppers has authorized payment of $2,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest of the suspect.
