Asheboro police said they’re investigating after a woman was found shot and killed at her apartment on Sunday morning.

ASHEBORO, N.C. — Asheboro police said they’re investigating after a woman was found shot and killed at her apartment on Sunday morning.

Police said they found 63-year-old Joan Elizabeth Harris fatally shot at 156 E. Academy St. apt. #216 after responding to a 911 call.

The victim’s apartment was across from the Asheboro Police Department.

Details on the victim’s death have not been released. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information can call Asheboro police at (336) 626-1300 ext. 312.

    She was my mother. She was a good woman who never hurt anyone in her whole life. She didn’t deserve this. She should have been here to spend Christmas with her two children, six grandchildren, & two great grandchildren. She should be here with us on her 64th birthday on January 12th. I hope & pray that the one who did this to her is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This person should NOT get away with doing this to my mother. She had already been put through more than enough.
