‘Duck Dynasty’ star suspended indefinitely for anti-gay remarks

Posted on: 9:14 pm, December 18, 2013, by , updated on: 11:29pm, December 18, 2013

Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson has been suspended from the show indefinitely by A&E after making anti-gay statements, according to Entertainment Weekly.

According to the report, A&E announced that Robertson would be placed “under hiatus from filming indefinitely” after making comments in GQ that sparked criticism from the gay community.

Robertson was quoted, saying, “Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong… Sin becomes fine. Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”

He continued, “It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus, that’s just me,” Robertson said. “I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation responded to the comments on Wednesday.

“Phil and his family claim to be Christian, but Phil’s lies about an entire community fly in the face of what true Christians believe,” GLAAD spokesman Wilson Cruz said in a statement.

Season five of the show is slotted to begin on Jan. 15, 2014. The rest of the family will remain on the show.

  • Timotheus says:

Looks like the days of free speech in America are gone. Welcome to the land of the not so free and home of the offended.

    • Esther says:

We must remember where Phil R. is from..a very deep religious area of the state and has not been exposed to all walks of life. I am sure that he must have known some varied lifestyles while in college, but at that time many of the iifestyles where in the ‘behind closed doors’. We can always hope that he will sit down with his son (the minister) and realize that all walks of live should respected.

      • Dent N Door says:

He said in the same interview that no one should be disrespected, good try. But don’t tell a believer what to believe because you are not a Christian.

      • S says:

What Phil said is right. If you are a Christian then you know that homosexuality is wrong! You talk about sitting down with his son the minister, well as a Bible believing minister he is going to agree with his dad. Homosexuality is wrong, Period. It is clearly stated in the Bible that God made man and woman for each other. And God brought down Sodom and Gomorrah for the sins that were being committed, and one of those sins was homosexuality. God frowns upon that lifestyle. As a Christian we should all stand behind Phil and what he said, Phil speaks the truth of God’s word and he shouldn’t change what he believes because of the sinfulness that the world has surcomed to.

      • NCHPJF says:

Esther you’re a freakin your RESEARCH before you make yourself look stupid. He read from a passage in the BIBLE.

    • Learnthelaw says:

The days of free speech are still here. This man was not arrested for what he said. People need to stop confusing the meaning of free speech and consequences of speech. You can freely say what ever dumb thought you have and the police will not show up to arrest you. If they would have arrested this man for that the ACLU would be there in his defense. Losing some money from a “reality show” is a lot different than going to jail.

    • Ruby says:

LGBT bullies find conservatives a very attractive target.

  • Scott says:

A&E knew what they were getting with Phil, he speaks from the heart so if they can’t accept people with varied opinions then maybe they need to stop showing the show. I would hate for the show to go off the air but I believe that they need to respect everyone’s opinion rather than push one point of view.

    • Michelle says:

Exactly. They asked his opinion and he gave just that. Those who do not support his views are not obligated to watch the show. And I thought our difference of opinions is what made us great.

  • ^ actually that is more straight sick people. than you very much. And you making the statement that you just did makes you no better than anyone.

  • JAMES WAITE says:

  • Tammy Mincey says:

Phil is correct! Read your Bible and you will see that homosexual behavior is a sin!!!! You go Phil, I am glad someone is telling the truth, because in this day and time anything goes except the word of GOD in society and it needed to be said!!!!!

    • Megan says:

Did you ever consider that some people are NOT holy roller fundies?

    • Here's Your Card says:

Stan Lee is right! Just read a Spider Man comic book and see that he exist!!!!

    • Nicole says:

I agree with you Tammy….Phil is just stating the truth. Yes I agree with respect but when God calls it an abomination! Well what else can you do. We are not to be judges only God can do that. I truly am glad that someone is finally taking a stand on God’s Word for a change instead of what feels right!!!

    • William says:

The Bible, which I read and adore, also calls the tattoos those guys are getting also angers the Lord. It is in Leviticus. I am SICK of people cherry-picking sins from the Bible and not reading it in its entirety. At least be honest… YOU don’t like homosexuality and YOU have a problem with it. That’s fine. But if you are going to blame the Bible you better be prepared to answer for a WHOLE lot of your own sins.

      • raven says:

Yea no sin is better than the other but u do have right to an opinion. Phil is just speaking on how he feel not criticizing to each its on. If you read his comment he states what he prefers so back off of Phil. Stop worring about the small stuff and worry about what the government doing wrong messing up the country. Worry about all this crime going on. Instead of someone stating there opinion

    • dewey says:

read your bible….and tell me where the dinosaurs are…omitting them is a sin

  • The level of hypocrisy is simply astounding and bewildering…

  • It is what it is we have the rite to speack whats on our mind

  • Darrell J. says:

I would be surprised if the others continue to film without Phil… especially over THAT!

  • FaithC says:

I may not agree with what he said or how he feels, but he has the right to say it. It is his opinion, we all have one.

    • Hahaha says:

      His “employer” disagrees,

      • Tlc says:

Believe me they are not hi along s employer, They are riding his coat tail. Phil Robertson was wealthy before they came along.

    • dewey says:

until phil gets a production company and a distributor and then a station to carry it…A&E is his employer….notice, if they say he isn’t on the show, he isn’t on the show

  • felicia says:

R you kidding me thats what he belive I belive the same thing and yall macking a big deal out of nothing this is crazy yall cant do that just bc he belive what her belive

    • Spell Check Much? says:

*Are you kidding me *that’s what he *believes *. I *believe the same thing and *y’all *are *making a big deal out of nothing *. *This is crazy *. *Y’all *can’t do that just *because he *believes what *he *believes *.

    • Adam says:

how high were you when you typed this?

  • Megan says:

    oh rednecks….

  • Julia Spencer says:

Phil Robertson, you are a good man. Thank you for standing firm in the word. What happened to free speech? Such a shame, everyone should stop watching and supporting the show until they agree to keep him. if it offends you dont watch it, just as we dont have to watch the channels that are geared solely to the G&L community. God will be the judge in the end!

  • timotheus53 says:

Wilson Cruz has absolutely no idea what Christians believe.

  • Bob H says:

A & E – I am OFFENDED by your actions – you are suppressing the freedom of speech that our fore-fathers fought and died for. Please suspend yourselves for offending me! He has the right to believe whatever he wants and to say so – your channel just got banned on my tv!

    • Hahaha says:

Good maybe these trashy hill billies will get run off the air.

      • Michelle1 says:

trashy hillbillies? That is all an act. They are actually extremely smart businessmen that make more money off of just their business WITHOUT the tv show than your life savings are worth. Appearance is not everything. The super redneck aspect is just to attract viewers. These men actually are awesome people with great hearts. Phil did not mean any harm by what he said. He was simply going by what he was taught.

  • Chris says:

Where was his speech censored? I am not seeing a free speech violation here. Free speech comes with free consequences. He can say what he likes and he did. Fortunately his employer doesn’t hold those views so the dummy got put on the bench. Not hard to understand.

    • Marinecorpswes says:

The dummy is richer and smarter than you will ever wish to be. So who’s the dummy now? His beliefs is his beliefs and there is no problem with him expressing that. No one else ever seems to have a problem saying offensive stuff on T.V. and they get away with it. It’s amazing that such a small group in this nation cries every time they don’t get their way and we always give in even if the huge majority says no. And it’s this way on many issues not just this one. This country that I fought and served for 5 years in War is going to the birds fast. So ashamed. People are only in it for themselves anymore and it’s disgusting.

      • Chris says:

If the amount of money you make is the criteria in which you gauge intelligence then that would explain all of your grammatical errors. I stated above he was entitled to state his opinions. A&E as a private company is entitled to fire or bench an employee for stating opinions that are in contrast to their views. You and your ilk can’t have it both ways. Also when you are going to try to throw out service time as some kind of justifier for your position, make sure you’re not doing it to someone who has more time in service than you and is still going strong. I have a tape measure if you want to take this to the next logical step.

  • Phil Robertson for President!!!!!!

  • eric says:

I feel sorry for some people on judgement day ..thank you Phil for speaking out like a true christian

  • Mindy Lenda says:

We’ll said, Phil. It’s in the Bible, that’s not about being “Holy Roly”. It is simply about being a Christian. It is not our place to “judge” another, however is it our place to stand up for right from wrong. God Bless.

  • Todd76 says:

Free speech is not at issue here, since A&E is a private corporation. It can choose to broadcast or not broadcast whatever it wants, provided it doesn’t violate decency standards. The star of this show made rude and narrow-minded statements that are not in line with A&E corporate policy, and he is now reaping the consequences. No need to predict the fall of the nation over this.

    • Duck dynasty fan says:

He didn’t make rude or narrow minded comments . He just spoke the truth . I think he ought to get his own station so he can make his comments as he sees fit

      • Chris says:

I agree… If Phil wants to continue to make rude and narrow minded comments such as the ones he made in GQ then he should purchase his own station so he can make his comments as he sees fit… or maybe just a podcast.

  • Eric says:

GLAAD has waged war with Christianity…Those who do wrong are offended by the truth, god Bless you Phil and Shame on you A&E for not standing behind your marketing and exploitation of these good people.

  • Jason boles says:

I think it is a shame a man can’t freely speak his mind in a nation that was built on Christian values. The sodomites sure are able to speak there mind in front of my children on open tv without rebuke. A@E you make me SICK!!!! A man has morals and he gets rebuked for it!! REALLY

    • Maybe you should do a little research…this country was not founded on Christian beliefs….in fact, most of our founding fathers were either atheist or agnostic and believed that everyone was entitled to their own beliefs and that no belief system should be prejudiced against

      • JCM says:

Well, you are right for the most part although some were deists, which is a far cry from what people here are trying to claim about the founding fathers. And I am pretty sure they have no clue what a deist is.

      • really? Is that why our money says IN GOD WE TRUST? because they DIDN’T believe in GOD? Do you realize just how stupid you just made yourself seem? You might need to pay a bit more attention instead of just spewing out hateful things and bashing someone else’s opinion. So, if the founding fathers did not believe in God then why did they persecute all those people in Salem for being “WITCHES”? The people who are the founding fathers are the ones who wrote the constitution and made all the colonies into one country. They were christians. Sorry to burst your bubble there.

      • JCM says:

Wow, Beverly, there is so much wrong with your claims that I could write a book about it. In God we Trust did not appear on the money until the Civil War when nearly every founding father was dead. So no, you could not be more wrong about that.

And the Salem witch trials happened nearly one hundred years before the founding of the United States so none of the founding fathers were even alive yet.

        SO try again….

      • Please research why the phrase In God We Trust is on our money… has not always been on our money…..umm and our founding fathers had nothing to do with the salem wich trials… was a bunch of kids claiming stuff that got way out of hand….so no…I do not believe I made myself sound stupid or anything…..if anything, u just proved that so many people just take what they are told at face value and never research or learn anything for themselves.

      • Dent N Door says:

Boy if you keep thinking that enough it will be true? Christains most certainly founded the US. They were not atheist, hardly anyone 250 years ago was. In fact if you bother to read a little history you will find that if you were an atheist you would have not told anyone. They kinda did away with those folks, think hot fire and pile of wood with a ring side seat. Failed.

      • jliles1205 says:

You should read our history instead of regurgitating lies by leftist revisionists

  • Stacey Jones says:

Wilson Cruz – he doesn’t “claim to be a Christian”, he is a Christian. Christians are flawed, sinners, liars, cheats, adulterers etc. Luckily we have a loving God who forgives us – even when we say things that aren’t so nice.

    • Bubba says:

Wilson Cruz is a spokesman for GLAAD and not a true Christian. How then can the statement about “what true Christians believe” be factual. I’m not Jewish, therefore I cannot make a statement of how “true Jews” believe …

  • JCM says:

Wow, it is not suppression of free speech as constituted by the founding document. Government cannot impede on your free speech, business can. Nothing in the constitution says it; it says “Congress shall pass no law….” What part of that do you not understand? He probably violated company policy by saying what he said. It is not any different than someone who failed to perform up to expected standards of a job. You sign on with A&E agreeing to the terms of company and if those terms says anything like the following: “as a representative of the network, no employee will purposely perform any actions or say anything that tarnishes A&E’s reputation” Then you can expect consequences for your actions.

I love the double standard; a lot of these people that act so offended by this would be the same people who would be pushing for A&E to cancel the show if he came out the closet. It seems it is only bad if you offend Christians, but okay if you offend anyone else.

  • Robbie says:

Come on A&E. I mean really! It goes against what all Christians believe. How about reading the Bible— the number 1 selling book in the USA for the last 20 years! It plainly tells you what is right & what is wrong!!!! Just saying– read the words of God & see what He says about it!!!!!!

  • GLAAD has waged war with anyone and everyone who speaks out or has an opinion against them. what happen to just having an opinion and letting just be that,

    • JCM says:

Just like Christians would let it be if he would have said instead that all Christians are hypocrites and believe in a false idol, hardly. Why is it Christians can protest anything that they deem goes against them, but if the shoe is on the other foot somehow it is “free speech” and should be allowed.

      Nice double standard Christians have.

      • practice what you preach. aren’t you doing the EXACT SAME THING with this comment?

      • JCM says:

No, I am asking why is it okay. I am not saying the people here cannot complain, I an merely asking why they believe it is okay on their side but not for any one else’s side. Please, take a few reading comprehension classes so you’ll understand.

  • Bobbie says:

Way to stand up Phil! I’m not against homosexual people at all, but I do believe he has the right to his opinion, just like any other citizen. I’m deeply disappointed in A&E, just hope they realize how many revenue & ratings the Robertson’s bring in for them!! Bring Phil back its actually nice have a wholesome TV show instead of lets get pregnant at 16 or act like teenagers when you’re 30 shows!!

  • Paul Wilkins says:

According to the Bible it’s a sin, according to the constitution it’s legal to say it’s a sin, according to “LOGO” it’s ok to promote it…. but according to A&E and many others we are only supposed to here one side of it. Adolf Hitler had a similar approach, filter out anything that he didn’t like… funny thing how everything seems to worry these people to death, ever consider if you are that thin skinned maybe it’s cause you know you are wrong?

don’t sweat it Phil! you know you were right, I know you were right, and more importantly God knows you were right…

    • I totally agree with you. They complain because they know it is a sin. The day will come quite soon when all the non-believers and sinners will be judged by the one and only GOD! I don’t think anybody is going to be saying much of anything except please forgive me ( by the sinners) and finally…you have come (from the saved ) The sad part is by then it will be too late to be forgiven and those people will be sent to Hell.

    • JCM says:

I was wondering when someone who lacks any cohesive argument would bring Hitler into the mix. It is insulting really; the extermination of millions of Jews by a fascist government is apparently equal to a network who suspended someone on one of their shows. The irony? Hitler claimed to be Christian, pandered to Christians, and gained their support on many evil things he did.

      • Jleggett22 says:

Actually hitler was not a confirmed Christian even though he did speak about Christianity on many occasions. He believed in “nazism” which he was quoted as saying going along somewhat with Christianity. Could he really be a Christian when he killed hundreds if not thousands of priests and ministers? He was actually quoted saying “it is through peasantry that we will be able to destroy Christianity because there is in them a true religion rooted in nature and blood.” Basically if you don’t understand that he wasn’t a Christian although he shared some similar beliefs

      • Jleggett22 says:

Your comment just bothers me. I mean Jews are God’s chosen people so he kills millions of them but yet is a Christian? Now I actually see irony here rather than what you were talking about earlier.

      • JCM says:

Ok, he said that mostly to those closest to him and other politicians, the public did not hear these comments for the most part. But when speaking to the public, he always claimed he followed Christianity to get their support. You know like politicians do today in the Republican Party? And Christians keep falling for it as they did then.

I never said he was a Christian, I said he claimed to be one. He did in public speeches many times. So stop twisting my words.

    • Chris says:

Haha It never takes long for one of these nutbags to prove Godwin’s Law!

    • james says:

      Ephesians 6:10-18

      New International Version (NIV)
      The Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

  • Bobby Fox says:

A&E is no different than any other media group. They are all about the money; Phil Robertson is the head of a God fearing family. When A&E starts losing money for their foolish and narrow views of Christianity they will re-think their views. Everyone has a right to believe in their own way just as they have the right to free speech.

    • Here's Your Sign says:

Yeah A&E is all about the money. The Duck Dynasty gang isn’t all about the money. That’s why as soon as their patriarch was pulled they immediately all backed out… Oh wait. -_-

      • jliles1205 says:

Contract negotiations are cumbersome.. The Robertsons have a bank of lawyers and will exit with full rights to all of their episodes. A&E will be left looking for a way to re-attract 11 million viewers. The Robertsons are already being courted by other channels.

      • Here's Your Sign says:

I think they would do well on another channel. Maybe Russia Public Access…

  • I feel like everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that is fine….what is not ok is to belittle anyone on national tv just because they do not believe as you do….everybody is going on and on about free speech, but what about freedom of religion…shouldn’t everybody be entitled to their own beliefs without being made to feel like they are bad people or will go to a place called “hell” just because they don’t fall in line with a bunch of other people trying to control the rest of the world?? It makes me sad that in a nation that was not truly founded on any one religion, that everyone who does not believe in one true god and his son, Jesus, is made to feel subpar than the ones who do….religion or someones lifestyle should never be a reason to be prejudiced against them. This just shows how UN-CHRISTIAN like so-called Christians really are.

  • Swomack says:

Way to go Phil! Speak the truth! The Bible plainly states it is an abomination! I don’t hate people for being homosexual. I look at the person, but I am not in agreement with their lifestyle. That is my right, just like it is his!

    • Here's Your Sign says:

My Holy Book states you are an illogical abomination! I don’t hate you for being an illogical abomination. I look at the person, but I am not in agreement with your choice to be an illogical abomination. That is my right.

  • If Dog can call his son’s girlfriend the N-word, why can’t Phil talk about lesbos and homos??

  • Phil should sue A&E for discrimination. He was simply stating something that is part of his and many others for that matter religion and he was “suspended” for it. Sounds like lawsuit time to me!!

  • CJ Plummer says:

Start a Duck Dynasty Network and see who would get more viewers??

  • Aunrie Marie says:

Are people no longer allowed to have an opinion? If it doesn’t make sense to someone as to why someone would thin a certain way should that person be punished? I see this issue as nothing more than homosexuals being immature. It isn’t fair to anyone that any group can think itself better than another, but if we do not accept differences in opinion then we are only perpetuating intolerance and prejudice. When will people stop being ignorant to the truth! Just because we do not agree on things does not mean that we cannot get along. Besides, why is it acceptable to condemn someone with Christian values, but every other group is elevated in media? Why do we not just treat everyone the same and not worry about how they are different? Of course there will always be disagreements, but why does it always have to end in someone winning? Are we so petty that we cannot even accept that someone can have a different opinion?

  • thetruth says:

The show won’t be much now with phil gone. To many yuppies out there today worried about hurting someone’s feelings but what’s it matter that same person will probably say something to hurt someone else’s feelings as well. So everyone is right what happen to freedom of speech.

  • Mike Kube says:

Arts and Entertainment? Their funding must come from the LGBT crowd.
Why suspend a man because he still has the guts to call sin, SIN?
Reminds me of a song from Arron Tippin:

I applaud Phil for not being an LGBT puppet.

    • It’s funny because the LGBT community is standing up for their beliefs and so are the people who support them and you call them “puppets” yet, Phil stands up for his belief and you don’t call him a Christian puppet or a religious puppet. The hypocrisy is REAL!

  • TMcFarland says:

It’s simple – if you don’t like what Phil Robertson has to say, then DON’T listen to him. You know how to work a remote don’t you? There are plenty of people who DO like what he has to say. and A&E – if you can’t support the cast of your shows, then maybe the Robertsons need to go to a station that will. I admire Phil for having the courage to NOT be politically correct and for standing by his beliefs.

  • Kathy L says:

Write to A&E on their website and Facebook page. This was my note: “With all the filth and foul on TV, Duck Dynasty was a welcome breath of fresh air. Your decision to cancel Duck Dynasty was not an intelligent one. Another smarter network will pick it up and not cave to the PC nonsense. How sad for you.”

    • Here's Your Card says:

The show wasn’t cancelled. Reading comprehension clearly not your strong suit. How sad for you.

  • dcs says:

He is just starting what the Bible says and what he believes in.

  • dcs says:

If you don’t like what they say or believe in then don’t watch them.

  • Rick says:

My Father fought WWII for the freedoms that we get to enjoy. A&E you knew Phil and gambled . You got the truth in his mind. About time we can talk about gays, we are losing what America was built on . Bill of rights, govermenrt tried to,remove in god we we trust from the court house steps and money is next. GO PHIL

  • Deenan says:

Romans 1:26-32, “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”

Take it up with the Creator …

  • I feel some type of way about this…I love the show..and I can see what Phil is saying..He’s only saying what he has been saying for years..his beliefs..Now the world is changing and people who could not live and be who they are, can now be free to do whatever they want with whom ever they want..After all this is America. A place that is unlike any other country is this world. I make that statement to say..No we may all not agree with a person’s lifestyle or a way in which they chose to live it…but is it really our business to sit in judgement..I know what the Bible says, However if people are going to follow one word of the Bible…they should follow all of them..should they not..The Bible states that one sin is no greater than the next one…a sin is a sin..All the same…This world is great and grand this country that we live in is like no other…Acceptance of one another is the only way to grow and help others to grow…Leave the judgement to GOD, he does not need our help in that area…So he says…so shall he do..It’s just time to watch what is said and be a bit more respectful to others and not judge because they may look, different, act different, speak different or just be different…This world is a big place and there is enough room for everyone..Do I think they should have fired him…No,,,do I think that he should learn to edit his thoughts…Yes, because everything thought does not need to be said…Freedom of speech..Yes, but why say it if it makes others uncomfortable…Let’s just all get along and make this country and world a better place..all while we still can…

  • anti-fudgepacker says:

i hope the rest of them leave A&E as well, and let the fudgepackers keep it to themselves! A&E will live to regret this decision in oh, about 48 hours or so…hope their glaaaaad now! lol

    • J says:

I find your comment and user name about “fudgepackers” pretty amusing. I’m betting you’re one of those redneck hypocrites who think it’s fine, maybe even hott, for two women to be together while two men being together is just disgusting.

  • Mike says:

Last time I checked, FREEDOM OF SPEECH was a protected right in the USA…regardless of whether you agree/disagree with what’s being said…

    • Read The Constitution says:

Last time I checked it was his freedom of speech that got him into this mess. Freedom of speech comes with freedom of consequences. This isn’t a violation of his rights.

  • Sam Pollard says:

What is our country coming to. Our freedom is slipping away. After being on this earth for 73 years I can not understand how words and thoughts can hurt anyone. If some one expresses their opinion does that mean you are suppose take every thing away from him and then kick him under the bus for the rest of his life ! REMEMBER…..STICKS AND STONES WILL BREAK MY BONES BUT YOUR WORDS WILL NEVER HURT ME ? ……….Is the world responsible for what you really are……..THINK ABOUT IT

  • Sam Pollard says:

We’ll I’m waiting for my post to come up

  • Tony D. says:

What we (believers) have failed to do is put homosexuality in the same category as all other sin. I realize that homosexuality is believed to be a right and all that. In the bible, it is categorized as wrong, just like lying, murder, etc. If people think it’s ok to live a homosexual lifestyle, do they also believe it’s ok to commit murder? Or lie? Or steal? Or any of the other things that the bible tells us not to do? The only way we will ever get the message across properly, is to tell it out of love. Not condemnation! When people realize that God loves them and He doesn’t view humanity with a rod of iron, they may listen to Him. He used the “rod of iron” on Jesus at the cross so He wouldn’t have to use it on us! When we accept that, we have to understand that we should respond to that out of love for God and turn from our wickedness. That’s called repentance. Without it, we will all face an Almighty, Righteous Judge who will condemn us at that point for rejecting the ONLY payment for sin!

  • neal302 says:

I bet if it were a Muslim making these statements that you would not hear one complain. We would be ask to be tolerant, either out of fear or sympathy. Christians have a right to have opinions, just as everyone else.if you dont want to know what ones opinion are do not ask. Just because ones opinions are not politicaly correct does not give the right for another to censor

  • nikkie says:

I find it interesting that as christians we have to mind our beliefs because we are constantly offending someone. but we as Christians have stood by and what use to be a small minority of unbelievers take control of what this country was founded deal with those consequences. Everytime i turn around some group is being offended by something everyone just needs to grow a pair and realize that there will always be contention and not everyone has to agree or like your lifestyle. This is not geared toward the G&L community this is for anyone and everyone christians non christians what ever your lifestyle or beliefs. Stop being so daggum sensitive if you are true to your beliefs and your lifestyle petty comments would not offend you.

  • Just my opinion says:

I do not watch this show, but love what it stands for. I dont understand how people can be angry. You ask a Christian man a question and he answered. You should known what he was going to answer. Just like asking the CEO of a Christian based restaruant chain his beliefs. I believe the same. If you dont agree thats ok. I didnt see where he pased judgement on anyone. If A&E had certain subjects they did nit want him dicussing then that should be in his contract. As for the rest of the family not filming because of him being banned from the show that would be crazy. This could be used as an excellent witnessing tool. They should all just wear Phil shirts.
As for the gramar gods, please forgive any errors as I am typing on my cell and dont care to proof read.
    Have a wonderful day everyone.
    Merry CHRISTmas!

  • will says:

Phil I back you. Homosexual lifestyle is wrong and sinful. Just like all other sin God does not pick and chose what is sin. All sin is agianst the Lord.

  • Gobble says:

If someone dropped the “n” bomb on t.v you would expect the same. At least I hope so

  • Simply Christian says:

The bible simply but clearly states that homosexuality is an abomination. True Christians will still love the sinner but hate the sin. It is not about bashing one person or another. It is about repenting from the sin. God is about Love and wants everyone to come to the saving knowledge that he died that we might have eternal life through him. Read your Bible. Every Christian should stand against sin and not just the sin of homosexuality. The Bible has no grey areas. People do.

  • badelizabeth says:

freedom of speech is just that – freedom of speech. He didn’t say that we all had to agree with his point of view – but leave him alone. He should be able to say what he thinks – everyone else does.

  • whiskyhorsegrl says:

The Bible states that it is a sin! If you believe the Bible then you have to believe the whole Bible. I’m tired of people picking and choosing what the Bible says is right and what it says is wrong. If you are going to believe in Gods word then you believe the WHOLE word not just what you want to pick out of it!

  • Lee says:

I think everyone should be able to say whatever they want as long as it does not threaten people. I have protested to A&E via this email

  • Phil was right in saying what he said about these (funny people) .

  • Tammie says:

We are not to Judge. Only God can do that. What a person does in their lives is between them and God. I can no more answer for their sin , and they cant answer for mine. We all will have to answer to God. SIN is SIN. We are all sinners, We just sin differently. Now that being said. I love GOD, the show & Phil.

  • will says:

Phil I back you. The homosexual lifestyle is wrong. Thanks fox8 for respecting the first amendment.

  • Me says:

The bible says it all – besides that, we ALL should have freedom of speech including black, conservative Christians…………….You think it’s okay just for liberals, gays and haters to speak their mind, not so!

  • amen!!!!i stand behind u 110% but they will have to answer to god….

  • Steve says:

When did it become illegal or immoral to speak your mind?

  • fed up says:

A hole is a hole is a hole. whether man, woman, dog, horse, goat sheep. what you do in your bedroom or in your barn shouldnt matter. we love all people and animals. aint that what Gladd preaches?

    • Dotty says:

I feel sorry for you! Humans may choose to do things with each other that goes not only against God, but nature itself. But, when you talk about abusing poor animals, you need help! I believe it’s against the law to abuse an animal the way you’ve put your message! I know we have laws now in America to protect our animals, yes we do allow certain animals to be hunted for food or sport, but not to sexual abuse them, or to starve them or beat them or use them in any sick way, and from your statement, you are sick! I pray that you get help before it’s to late, and that above all you get saved! May God have mercy on you!

  • God is good says:

I recently read, he was not going to be doing that show that much longer. Therefore, Im sure he’s not too bummed about it. If anyone watches the show regularly, you know Phil, and he says what he feels. Also, how many gays watch Duck Dynasty anyhow, probably very few!! So this is just something for them to get all bent out of shape about…I dont agree with the homesexual lifestyle, I dont watch the shows that support it and I dont go making a big deal to try and ban them either. I hope the rest of the family pulls out as well, sorry A&E stupid mistake!!

  • zb says:

To HELL with Gladd. All A bunch of idiots. Those people are sick in the head that’s all there is to it. Notice I said THOSE people. F**KN Sick

  • ROMANS 1 it.

    • Here's Your Sign says:

C’mon, that was only 6 letters and 1 number… Give me something harder to read! Now for a good read, try the constitution. It’s at least double the letters.

  • Matt says:

I always thought employers are not to discriminate against you for your sexual beliefs? Just as they are not suppose to discriminate based on race, religion, etc… This can not be the complete reason that Phil is not on the show. IF it is there could probably be a huge lawsuit filed that would make them more money than A&E would ever pay for them just making the show.

  • Penny says:

I just watched Cindy Farmer and co-host ( do not remember her name)show a fellow ( did not catch his name)saying Phil Robertson needed to change. That the times had changed and he needed to. Excuse me but times have not changed when God’s word plainly states God made man and woman for each other. They are to be only for each other. Phil told the truth of what God’s Word says. We stand with him on this! When they took God out of schools and started telling kids it was okay to be different. Parent’s better wake up to what they or their kids are doing. For they WILL answer for it.
Phil we are standing with you!!!

  • Who Cares says:

And all of this meaningless nonsense could have been avoided if Phil would have just remembered the Golden Rule. Among others.

  • Sven Harder says:

How did the subject of sexuality come up anyways? If they don’t like the answer why ask they question? Homosexuality isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Why not leave the poor guy alone. You can’t force your ideologies on other people. Why don’t they ask all movies stars their opinion on various types of sexuality and we can go on a Communist Inquisition like they did in the 50′s and BLACKLIST and EXILE everyone who doesn’t conform to our ideals. USA is a free country isn’t it?

  • Amy says:

This is one of the best family shows that has been on the air in a longggg time. There is nothing wrong with what he said in an interview. He didn’t point fingers just gave his own opinion/belief.Heck get rid of the internet,Facebook and everything else. It’s all about opinions and one own beliefs. If no one likes the show then don’t watch it.Simple as that. There’s ALOT of shows on I don’t care for with things being done and said I don’t agree with I just turn the channel.I bet there is plenty of other networks that would love to have them. This world has gotten worse and worse with people taking stuff to the extreme. Now let us pray.Amen

  • shelia says:

Phil only says what the word of GOD says, read Leviticus 18: 22-23, man shall not lay with man and woman shall not lay with woman. you can agree or disagree but it does not change. I stand with Phil.

    • Here's Your Sign says:

There’s a lot more in Leviticus than just that one part my dear Cherry-Picking Shelia. You should have someone read it to you.

  • Tracy Turnblad says:

Some of us have forgotten what free speech meant along the way. Are you saying that Hitler had the right to stand before a nation and seed hatred for a sect of people during the holocaust? No! You don’t deserve the right to free speech if you use it to hurt or defame others. And to say that he was “speaking the truth” is just preposterous. Who are you to say that your way of doing things is the only way? There are religions in this world that don’t condemn homosexuality. Will you also say that those religions are wrong? Get over yourself and know that if you truly believe in the right to free speech then you should also accept that you have no right to impose judgement on anyone else’s freedoms nor the way that they live their lives. Who cares what the bible says. Too often is it used as a law book to judge the world by instead of a tool to inspire and teach the importance of faith.

  • Brian says:

I believe that we should protect our rights to free speech. I have sent a letter to A&E and expressed my feelings. I myself am not going to watch any other shows on the A&E networks which includes: A&E, LMN, History just to name a few, I am also going to send a letter to my satellite provider and encourage them to drop all of the networks channels. I believe that anyone else who agrees should do the same.
Heck.. if they suspended every show that offended someone, we would not have any shows to watch because every show would be suspended !
    Just my opinion.

  • tara says:

I totally agree with majority of these comments and especially Mr Phil’s! WE have to a right to speak what we want and he spoke what he wanted. Hey, The Robertsons can move to another network or start their own if they wanted too. WE all would still watch and support them!
Rock On Mr Phil! God Bless you & your family continuously!!

  • just me says:

i just don’t get it everyone up in the air about phils comments I have read it 3 times and I don’t see where he is bashing anyone. he just stated he didn’t understand it.

  • Connie Byrd says:

I am outraged that Christians are being persecuted for their belief’s. Christians are told to be tolerant of everyone’s lifestyle, but everyone is not tolerant of Christians beliefs and when their voiced, Christians are labeled as ignorant, bigots, racist and haters. Maybe they need to find out exactly what Christians believe. Where are their tolerates? Just because a lot of people have turned from God’ words, and do not abide by them, does not mean their wrong. I will no longer watch A&E until Duck Dynasty is returned.

    • Here's Your Sign says:

Don’t worry I can translate bigot. I think what she is saying is “I clearly don’t understand what it means to be persecuted. I am outraged that you’re intolerant of my intolerance. You guys just don’t understand. My Holy Book says it’s Ok for me to look down on certain types of people. I will not support the rest of the Robertson’s by boycotting A&E. I am special kind of stupid.” I think that’s about right. You will have to excuse me, my bigotry is a bit rusty. The last sentence wasn’t a direct translation. It was just added to help give context.

  • Tracy Turnblad says:

Please be outraged Connie. Have you ever been attacked because someone thought that you being a Christian was an affront to their high deity? No? Have you ever been told that your lifestyle would condemn you to an eternity of hellfire? No? People only come after Christians when it is made apparat that they think that their opinion is the only opinion. Tolerance means to endure something that you may not believe in without adverse reaction. If it didn’t seem as though Christians were constantly suggesting that their way is the right way I doubt if they would be viewed as bigots and what have you. I doubt if the gays are after you and your loved ones to get you to come over to their side.

  • Melody F. says:

This is censorship, it is intolerant and against freedom of religion. Everyone who watches shows on A & E should stop until they remedy this and show the tolerance that they seem to want with their issues.

    • You're a special kind of stupid says:

He exercised his first amendment right during that GQ interview in which he called an entire class of people illogical, equated them to beastiality, and said there was no way they were going to heaven (we won’t even touch on the Jim Crow comments). The article is being printed and has been reposted several times… Looks like he should have been censored but unfortunately for him, he wasn’t. Also I would like you to point out where his freedom of religion has been violated. I won’t hold my breath. Read the constitution. Hell, just read a book.

  • Bill Jackson says:

    God bless Phil Robertson.

  • Who Cares says:

My TV took a walk to the curb about 4 years ago and has yet to return. That’s a good thing I’m thinking.

  • Nicholas O. says:

this is a simple issue really. even though everyone in this country has the right to express their opinion. businesses have an obligation to their customers and seeing as though A&E has a large LGBT customer base they were making a business decision so the real issue here is not freedom of speech because we can all agree that freedom of speech is guaranteed in this country however for every action there is a consequence. this person made some comments that offended a large segment of the population and therefore A&E made the business decision to suspend this person

  • Amy says:

Even the gov of Louisiana supports him.Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal issued a statement Thursday morning in support of Phil Robertson, following his suspension from the A&E show ‘Duck Dynasty’ due to comments the star made in an interview. “It is a messed up situation when Miley Cyrus gets a laugh, and Phil Robertson gets suspended,” Jindal said in a written release.

  • smh says:

I think that EVERYONE is allowed to voice their OWN personal opinion!!! If that’s the way he feels then so F***** be it!!!! I get so tired of people worrying about what comes out of SOMEONE else’s MOUTH!!!!!
I mean he is entitled to feel that way isn’t he? Or are “they” trying to that away too?!!!

    • Here's Your Sign says:

You stop worrying about what’s going in their mouth and they’ll stop worrying about what’s coming out of yours… deal?

  • GDM says:

A&E’s motto is “Be Original.” hahahaha I think they should change that to “Be Mainstream and PC at all times or we will fire you”

  • Fan of Phil says:

To all those posting bible verses from the OLD testament, -that was how people believed over 2500 years ago! This is not 1200BC anymore, it is 2013 AD! Also, for those of you who take the OLD testament literal about sexual activity, how about the next time you sin with your left hand -cut it off! That is the literal OLD testament. The New Testament is about Jesus and his Teachings, like how to live a decent life. Forgiving others who have done wrong against you. Through the years there have been many interpretations of what was written (which is why there are thousands of different churches around the world, because no one can agree with each other). The bible was written by old men who were wise but this is also their version of Free Speech. It is a collection of writings that was compiled together by order of King James in the 14-1600′s.
I sure that what Phil said was how he believes and I’m sure he won’t back down from it either! I don’t care who you are or how you believe, you live how you choose and I will live how I choose.

PS. check out the Duck Dynasty Beard APP on Google APPs

  • Dotty says:

I’m sorry A&E made such a rash decision! I don’t think that anyone has the right to tell others what they should or should not believe, I know it may be that way in other countries, but not the USA! Mr. Phil has the right to his beliefs. We all need to realize that if America doesn’t turn back to God we’re in for a rough time! We need to protect our children, defenseless animals, our senior citizens and physically and mentally disabled! We need to protect America! We should all love each other and do unto others as we’d want them to do unto us, but today we’ve taken God out of everything except by choice our homes and churches! It is a shame that we’ve gone so far. I have always enjoyed A&E they usually have some good shows Duck Dynasty being one of the best. (This is were I’m using my freedom of speech), but when they
(A&E) decide to start suspending someone for their personal beliefs or freedom of speech, and what Phil said was not a hate crime, just his personal preference, it’s like someone saying I’m a vegetarian or I prefer steak, not sushi, it’s stupid to make such a big deal out of it! That’s a lot of what’s wrong with America today, we seem to get offended at every little thing someone does or says!

  • Mark Humphrey says:

hhey I think the rest of the family should tell a&e that we won’t film without him. just like they did when they said they couldn’t end the show with prayer.

  • Greg says:

Offended at being bullied by intolerant Christaphobic hate speak from GLAAD and other pro-LGBT organizations? This is cause for all Christians to boycott all A&E shows except Duck Dynasty until Phil is reinstated. Email A&E to let them know what you think

  • Amber says:

I don’t want to argue with anyone, but I agree with Phil’s belief. Just wish he could have put it in not so perverse terms. And I also agree that it is A&E’s right to put on and take off whatever they want, whether I agree with it or not. I just won’t watch if I don’t like it. (Not as if I watch much TV anyways, such a time waster. I’d much rather read my Bible.) And I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! God Bless!

  • Robert C. Sink says:

I am offended by A&E so I will watch some other channel ! Long live the Christian attitude .

  • Tony Mayer says:

I am amazed with A&E that it would buckle to a minority liberal PC crowd so easily, and alienate an overwhelming majority of its audience. This is a stupid move as Phil has 1st amendment rights guaranteeing freedom of speech (also opinion). Last time I checked (in spite of Obama’s efforts to limit) this right was still in place. I imagine if Phil would have ranted against Christianity or whites A&E probably would have openly endorsed him and his ”anti-conservative” comments. With this debacle both the president and network director of A&E should immediately apologize to Phil or resign. Phil’s audience should accept nothing else. This misguided network should be branded as anti-American as Aljazeera, and boycotted far and wide by all Phil’s loyal followers. Let A&E go down in flames as if All Gore was guiding them. A&E needs to pay for this screw-up.

    • Yeah when all else fails blame liberals. The same stupid excuse most rednecks use on this site. A&E IS A BUSINESS! They have to protect their business, and if they feel that it hurts their brand, then they can discipline him as they see fit. He wasn’t arrested, jailed, or executed because he spoke his opinion, so his 1st amendment rights WEREN’T VIOLATED. If anything Republicans & Democrats should be labeled as “anti American”. People like you that vote for party over country. People like you have done it for decades, and becuase you choose to believe what you’re told (the hell with free thinking), you keep wagaing an ideological war against what YOU “believe” is the “enemy”. All while under both parties YOU get poorer and THEY get richer. I have already posted that “freedom of speech” only works if YOU agree with it. If I or anyone else choose to say anything “anti conservative” or “anti Christian” then it’s still “FREEDOM OF SPEECH” . But because YOU don’t agree with it, then it’s a problem. It’s blatant narrowmindedness and Kool-Aid drinking like this, that is far more dangerous then and “terrorist” could ever be.

  • John says:

Jesus never spoke about it – but he didn’t need to. When this part of the bible happened there was a reason homosexuality was an abomination. Surprised at the amount of people who say “READ YOUR BIBLE” don’t know the historical connotation of this.

  • Bill says:

he and everyone has a opinion and Im sure someone brought something up to do with him talking about that on the show or he probably would have never said anything in regards to gays, and yes read your BIBLE and you will see it is a sin…..

  • moronic says:

There’s PLENTY of networks that will grab this show up if A&E chooses to side with GAYS rather than the bible!!!!
