Alma Adams announces campaign for Congress
GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — State Representative Alma Adams announced Thursday morning that she’s running for Congress and is seeking the 12th district seat vacated by Mel Watt.
Watt was just confirmed by the Senate as the new head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency. Adams said Watts served the community well and she wants to continue his work.
Rep. Adams is currently in her 11th term in the North Carolina General Assembly.
She is also calling for Gov. Pat McCrory to hold a special election so that the 12th district won’t be left without a voice in congress for long.
