WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — Two pedestrians were hit by a vehicle allegedly being driven by a texting drunk driver, according to officials.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed two pedestrians were hit by a vehicle on an exit ramp off U.S. 64 Thursday evening in Zebulon.
According to WNCN, four people were outside of their vehicle on the exit ramp because a wheel came off their trailer.
A driver was texting while taking the exit ramp, served and hit two of the people who had just finished changing the tire, the Highway Patrol said.
The two injured victims were taken to WakeMed. Their conditions are not known at this time.
The driver will be charged with texting while driving, troopers said. Other charges are pending.
