Three killed, two injured in Harnett County crash

LILLINGTON, N.C. — State highway patrol is investigating a fiery crash in Harnett County which resulted in three people being killed.

WRAL-TV reported the wreck happened around 2:30 a.m. on Neills Creek Road near Buies Creek in Lillington.

Investigators said police were doing a check point and the driver did not stop, but continued driving with four other people in the car.

Troopers said alcohol may have been involved. Family members said the group was at a party earlier in the night.

The driver, Shane Mitchell Garner, 23, of Coats, and passengers, Austin Stewart Ferrell, 20, of  Buies Creek, and Casey Dell Edens, 16, of Lillington, were killed.

The two remaining passengers, Autumn Ashlyn Zimmer and Marina Troyano, both 17, and from Fuquay-Varina, remain in critical condition at WakeMed.
