Man dies after SUV collides with horse-drawn buggy

WILKES COUNTY, N.C. — A man riding in a horse-drawn buggy died after the buggy was struck by a vehicle in Moravian Falls on Wednesday night.

According to the Wilkes Journal-Patriot, Bryan Selby, 46, of Moravian Mill Road, and two of his daughters were in a two-wheel buggy that was headed southbound on Moravian Falls Road when it was struck in the rear by a sport utility vehicle.

Selby was pronounced dead at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. The two others in the buggy, Brianna Selby, 18, and Hanna Selby, 13, were not seriously injured.

Moravian Falls Fire Chief Kimi Hamby told the paper the buggy had gone just beyond the crest of a hill when the collision occurred.
