Could predators be spying on you through your computer webcam? According to the FBI, the answer is yes – and an Asheboro couple says it happened to them.

We’re all guilty of clicking on questionable links on social media. If your computer is infected, hackers wait until your computer is idle and that’s when they can access your webcam remotely and watch your intimate moments from thousands of miles away.

Ashton White and her husband, who live in Asheboro, said hackers accessed their webcam and took photos of their bathroom. Now, the FBI is investigating how it happened.

  • Just keep the webcam covered when not in use….should be simple enough.

you can also disable your webcam. but the main thing is to make sure you have a secure network at home by using alpha numeric keys (the characters above your numbers), capital letter, and numbers. what i tell people also, is to hide their network ssid. when you do that it’s harder for people to find you discover your network and will give you a little bit more security to your wifi network

I use webcam covers from privacyapplications.com on my childrens tablets to prevent this kind of stuff. They also have some for laptop computers. They are made thick for easy grip when you want to use your cameras. They are only 4 dollars and you get a whole package of them.
