BURLINGTON, N.C. — A boiling water notice has been issued for an isolated part of Burlington.

Burlington residents living near a water line break on Mebane Street between Piedmont Way and Beaumont Avenue have been advised to boil their water.

City officials said Thursday that the affected area is bounded on the East by South Beaumont Avenue; on the West by Piedmont Way and on the North by Georgia Avenue.

Officials said the advisory was issued as a precautionary measure for about 20 to 25 residences that were affected by the water break.

Authorities said they’ve already disinfected the water lines and are running tests to make sure there is no bacterial contamination.

City officials said they will notify residents once the lab results show the water does not have bacteria and boiling water is no longer recommended.
