Fire claims home in Lexington, 8 dogs missing

1480 Remer Regan Road in Lexington

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A home is a total loss and eight dogs are missing after a house fire in Davidson County Tuesday afternoon.

Holly Grove firefighters responded to 1480 Remer Regan Road in Lexington around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, where a fire had engulfed a home.

Officials say a 74-year-old woman lives at the house, but was not home at the time of the fire. Eight of her dogs are missing.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, and foul play is not being ruled out.

Investigators are on the scene Wednesday.
