RALEIGH, N.C. — A crime alert was issued at North Carolina State University after an attempted robbery was reported on campus Tuesday night, according to WTVD-TV.

Authorities said it happened around 11 p.m. between the Turlington and Owen dormitories, near the Carmichael Gym.

Police said a student fought back after a man approached him asking for help, and then two other men joined them.

They reportedly demanded the student’s bag, took it from him, and then dropped it before running toward the Free Expression Tunnel.

The incident was considered an attempted robbery since the student’s belongings were dropped as the suspects fled the scene, according to a “Wolf Alert” sent out to students, faculty, and staff.

The student said the suspects implied they had a weapon, but did not show it.

Campus police said there are cameras posted on buildings where Tuesday night’s incident happened, and they are reviewing the surveillance video.
