Novant Health answers questions about Affordable Care Act
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Novant Health Forsyth and Thomasville Medical Centers are trying to help people understand the requirements, benefits and enrollment options for the Affordable Care Act by hosting information seminars on Wednesday.
Novant Senior Vice President Bob Seehausen said that while the Affordable Care Act requires most people to have health insurance, the website confusion and varied information available has many people seeking one on one, personal help.
“We want people to learn more so they can make a good decision for them and their family,” Seehausen said. “We think it’s really important for people to have insurance, have access to healthcare and we are afraid that the message is going to get lost in all the confusion.”
This Wednesday, from 3-7 p.m., the two medical centers will host formal presentations and one-on-one meetings with licensed insurance brokers and medical staffed trained in the Affordable Care Act.
The meetings are geared toward those who don’t currently have insurance, are buying their own insurance, or are at high risk of needing more coverage.
Seehausen said it’s important people take advantage of these free, personalized meetings because, “we believe there are north of 50,000 in the Winston-Salem and Thomasville area who are uninsured today. If you don’t come and have questions and don’t seek answers, you could be missing out on a year of eligibility as the marketplace is only open for a certain period of time.”
Novant is also hosting a Web chat from noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29.
