Two people shot in Burlington, suspect sought

BURLINGTON, N.C. --Police have identified the two men shot during a home invasion Thursday.

Police say the two suspects broke into the apartment at 7650 Woodland Heights Apartments on Woodspring Drive, around 10:30 a.m. and shot Charlie Thompson and Curtis Vernell Harrelson.

Thompson sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to Moses Cone. Harrelson was shot multiple times and is in stable condition.

Police are still looking for a male suspect who fled the scene in a gray Dodge Durango.

At 12:25 p.m., Greensboro police found Edgar Elijah Stanback, 38, in the passenger seat of a vehicle at Huffine Mill Road and Hampshire Drive with at least one gun shot wound. He was taken to Moses Cone, where he later died.

Police believe the two incidents are connected.
