Give a Kid a Coat campaign now underway

​The 2013 Give A Kid A Coat campaign kicked off this morning by collecting 575 coats during a live event with WGHP/Fox8 and 1075KZL at the A Cleaner World located at 2527 Eastchester Drive in High Point.

The event was filled with visits by radio and television personalities, the Chick fil A Cow, and the High Point University Panther mascot . Chick fil A, Hardee’s, and Biscuitville all supplied breakfast for the event.

Several sets of tickets were given away including Wake Forest football vs. Duke, Disney on Ice, Bank of America 500, as well as two autographed helmets from the Carolina Panthers. Terror Woods is again donating 50% of their proceeds to the Give A Kid A Coat project this year.

The Piedmont area Give A Kid A Coat campaign collected, cleaned, and distributed, through The Salvation Army, 23,820 coats in 2012 and has collected, cleaned, and distributed 770,232 coats since the campaign’s inception in 1987. The 2013 campaign began today and will end on Saturday, November 16, 2013.

Kid Smiles in Asheboro is also a corporate sponsor for this year’s campaign.

Residents wishing to participate in this year’s campaign can bring their outgrown coats or coats no longer being worn to any A Cleaner World location. Coats will be cleaned, repaired, and given to The Salvation Army for distribution to needy children and adults.
