Man assaulted, robbed while walking on sidewalk in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. – A man was assaulted and robbed early Wednesday morning while walking near a residential area in south Greensboro.

Officers responded to 3602 Lakefield Drive around 12:40 a.m. in reference to a robbery.

The victim told officers he was walking on the sidewalk when he passed 6-8 people who were loitering in the area. As he passed them, several people “became aggressive” and surrounded him, police said in a news release.

Police said the suspects punched and kicked him several times.

Once the victim was knocked down, the suspects went through his pockets and stole his personal property.

The suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspects were described as 6-8 males all in their teens or early 20s. No other information was provided. The suspects were not armed, according to police.

The victim sustained minor injuries. He was treated at the scene by EMS.

The investigation is ongoing.
