Second arrest made in deadly Winston-Salem shooting

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem police have arrested a second person in connection with a deadly shooting last month.

Police said 21-year-old Dontae Renard Ross died from his injuries on Sept. 12 after being found behind 2532 Ladeara Crest Lane lying in the grass suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he later died.

Joseph Pichardo, 21, of 1056 Glenmont Road, Winston-Salem, was arrested in Manhattan, New York on Sept. 29. He faces murder charges in connection with the shooting.

Michael Hines, Jr., 21, of 4907 Fallfield Drive, Kernersville, was arrested on Sept. 19 and charged with accessory after the fact to a felony. He was placed in the Forsyth County Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond. His court date is set for Oct. 31.

No other information was released.
