Vehicle stolen, suspect arrested after police pursuit

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A man is in custody after a vehicle during a robbery in High Point late Monday night.

Shortly before midnight, someone reported their vehicle was stolen in the 500 block of Saunders Place during an armed robbery.

The victim told police they were struck in the head, had their wallet stolen and were left in a nearby wooded area.

Around 12:54 a.m., the stolen vehicle was spotted near Carter Street and Leonard Ave. A police pursuit started shortly after.

The vehicle traveled onto US 29/70 and Interstate 85 where Greensboro police and Guilford County deputies assisted in the pursuit.

The suspect stopped the vehicle near mile marker 130 on Interstate 85.

24-year-old Jarell DeCarlo Bratcher, 24, of High Point, was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, larceny, possession of a stolen vehicle, kidnapping, speeding to elude arrest and several other charges.

Bratcher was placed in the Guilford County Jail under a $350,000 bond.

No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
