Kernersville Walmart evacuated after threatening note

KERNERSVILLE, N.C.– A Walmart was evacuated after witnesses say a man approached the customer service counter and handed an employee a note telling shoppers and employees to leave.

Police arrived at the 1130 South Main Street Walmart around 5:30 p.m.

Kernersville Police and emergency response teams say they searched the store for explosive devises, but nothing was found.

Police say there was no evidence of a gun being fired despite witness reports.

The Walmart reopened about two hours later.

According to a police report, the suspect left the store before police arrived.

Kernersville Police say the suspect was wearing a green checkered shirt and tan military style pants.
