RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — A man was charged with driving while impaired after authorities said he drove a minivan with a 13-year-old passenger, ran off the road and overturned.

Cameron Lloyd Davis, 24, of Julian, was also charged with careless and reckless driving and driving without an operator’s license.

Officials said the crash involved a Toyota minivan and was reported around 8 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 311 northbound near Old High Point Street outside of Randleman.

Trooper Brett Snotherly said the suspect drove off the road, hit a ditch and a couple of power poles before the vehicle overturned. One of the power poles snapped in half.

Authorities said the suspect and his juvenile passenger were taken to Moses Cone Hopital, both with non-life-threatening injuries. Weather was not said to be a factor.

The investigation is ongoing and no other details were immediately available.
