Carolina Field of Honor groundbreaking today
KERNERSVILLE, N.C. – What started as one man’s vision is now becoming a reality. A groundbreaking ceremony today will kick off construction of the Carolina Field of Honor at Triad Park.
The veteran’s memorial, which has been in the works for more than six years, will honor the men and women who served this country.
It will include a 60-foot granite obelisk made with stone from Mount Airy, tributes to each branch of service, personalized pavers and a 2,500 seat amphitheater.
The $5 million project is just $200,000 from reaching its funding goal.
Pavers are still being sold at ncwmf.org – with all money benefiting the Carolina Field of Honor.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place 5:30 p.m. at Triad Park off East Mountain Street.
More than 150,000 veterans live in the Piedmont Triad.
