REIDSVILLE, N.C. — A Reidsville man was charged with attempted murder after deputies said he shot a man in the head.

Curtis Wayne Hearn, 48, allegedly shot and injured a 40-year-old who visited his home to buy a trailer around 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Lawsonville Avenue.

The two were negotiating a price when the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the head.

Deputies said the victim then walked to a nearby convenience store and got a ride home where he called for medical assistance and law enforcement.

Deputies said they arrived at the suspect’s home and a five-hour stand-off took place. Tear gas was eventually deployed and he was arrested, officials said.

The suspect was placed in the Rockingham County Jail under no bond for the attempted murder of the victim.

Rockingham County deputies said the victim is expected to survive.
