Authorities search Randolph Co. for missing SC woman
RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities said an abandoned pickup truck found in Randolph County may have been driven by a missing South Carolina woman.
Randolph County deputies said a resident reported seeing a white 2009 Ford Ranger Friday afternoon near the woods by his home on Pisgah Covered Bridge Road.
Deputies said the truck may have been driven by 58-year-old Susan Diane Peterson, who was reported missing out of Rock Hill, S.C., on Aug. 7.
Susan Peterson’s brother reported to York County Sheriff’s Office investigators that he last saw his sister early Wednesday morning.
He told officers that she was going to drive his pickup truck to Charlotte to donate her blood plasma.
Deputies said the pickup truck had not been seen until Friday, more than a week after she was reported missing.
The York County Sheriff’s Office issued a “Be On the Look-Out for” alert on Thursday, calling Peterson a “Missing and Endangered Person”
Randolph County deputies said various law enforcement agencies conducted an extensive search on Friday and Saturday to find Peterson, but were unsuccessful.
Susan Peterson is described as a 58-year-old white female, standing 5’2″ and weighing 135 pounds.
Anyone with any information on Peterson’s whereabouts can call the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office at (336) 318-6699 or the York County, SC Sheriff’s Office at (803) 628-3059.
