Man and child killed in head-on crash in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. — Police said a man and a 7-year-old boy were killed after a head-on crash Friday night in North Raleigh, according to WTVD.

Police said 22-year-old Tyeqauze Damar Oneal was driving west on East Millbrook Road when his Toyota Camry spun out and crossed the center line, hitting a PT Cruiser.

Officials said Oneal died of his injuries after being taken to WakeMed hospital. Seven-year-old Kyrail McLean, a passenger in Oneal’s car, died at the scene.

Raleigh police said the crash happened around 8:20 p.m. on East Millbrook Road between Tralee and Burnlee Place as Oneal was going 80 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Police said when the Camry hit the PT Cruiser; both vehicles traveled more than 20 feet after impact.

The 19-year-old driver of the PT Cruiser was not speeding, officials said. The Cruiser’s driver and her passenger were injured, but not seriously.

Oneal’s also had a 22-year-old passenger who was listed in good condition at WakeMed.

Authorities are awaiting toxicology report to determine is alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.

In a 911 call released by police, the caller described a mangled car on fire that was smashed in half.

East Millbrook Road was shut down for almost four hours as police investigated. It reopened around 12:30 a.m.
