National Guard unit’s golf tourney to benefit Children’s Hospital

CLEMMONS, N.C. -- A local Army National Guard unit is organizing a golf tournament that will raise money for Brenner Children's Hospital.

The 883rd Engineer Company Sappers will host the Spartan Golf Classic on Friday, Aug. 9 at the Champion's Course at Tanglewood. Registration for the tournament begins at 8 a.m. the morning of, while tee time is set for 9 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the Children's Hospital.

On Tuesday during the FOX8 Morning News, Sgt 1st Class Mike Russell stopped by to discuss the tournament. Those who are interested can request a registration form by emailing or get more information by calling Russell at 902-7552.
