Man wanted for robbing Family Dollar store at gunpoint

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed a Family Dollar store at gunpoint Friday morning in Winston-Salem.

The robbery occurred shortly before 10:45 a.m. at the Family Dollar at 631 Peters Creek Parkway.

Police say the man in these surveillance photos approached the female clerk, displayed a handgun that was in his waistband and demanded money. The suspect ran away after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect was last seen headed east on Academy Street toward Granville Drive. Police say a K-9 led them to Granville Park, but the track was lost in the 700 block of Granville Drive.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s standing about 5’7″ tall and weighing about 225 pounds.
