KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — A Kannapolis police officer and his wife have been arrested on charges of federal child pornography, according to WSOC-TV.

The FBI reportedly arrested Steven Webb and his wife Tracy Webb at their Kannapolis home on Monday.

Both suspects are charged with receiving, possessing and distributing child pornography and making false statements.

Authorities are not commenting on the allegations against the suspects or how long they have been working on the case.

Steven Webb had reportedly been an officer with the Kannapolis Police Department since June of 2008.

During their first appearances in federal court on Tuesday, a magistrate judge ordered that they be held in jail until their detention hearing on Friday.

Neighbors who live near the couple said they were shocked to hear about the allegations. They said their streets were lined with law enforcement officials from different agencies investigating the incident on Monday.
