KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Rowan County deputies said they’re investigating a suspicious death involving a Kannapolis woman found dead at her home on Tuesday morning.

Deputies said they found the body of 62-year-old Shirley Goodnight Pierce after being called to 117 Evandale Road around 9:45 a.m.

Officials said they secured the scene and are continuing to investigate. Investigators said they are collecting evidence and speaking with family, friends and neighbors of the victims.

Rowan County deputies said this investigation is in no way related to a double homicide reported Saturday night that involved two cousins found dead in a pickup truck.
