Walnut Cove police chief files for election as town comissioner

WALNUT COVE, N.C. — Walnut Cove’s Police Chief Chad Williams has filed for election as town commissioner, according to The Stokes News.

Williams became police chief in 2012 after serving as lieutenant and acting chief after the resignation of the former police chief.

Williams is a native of Walnut Cove and was hired as a patrol officer in 1999, was promoted to sergeant in 2006 and named as lieutenant in 2011.

The Walnut Cove Police Department will no longer exist after August 1 after officials voted to disband the department.
