MUSKEGON, Mich. -- A woman has been caught on video allegedly planning her husband’s murder -- and smiling during the conversation.

Julia Merfeld, 21, pleaded guilty after being caught on camera hiring an undercover cop who she thought was a hitman to kill her husband.

The sting was set up after a co-worker contacted police, saying Merfeld told him she wanted her husband dead.

Merfeld is caught on video allegedly planning how and when she wants her husband murdered. She said she wants to make the incident look as non-suspicious as possible.

The deal was made for $50,000, with the money coming from her husband’s life insurance.

"As terrible as it sounds, it's easier than divorcing him. I didn't have to worry about the judgment of my family. I didn't have to worry about breaking his heart,” she said.

Merfeld faces a minimum of six years in prison. Her husband says he doesn’t want her to spend any time in jail. The couple has two children.
