CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Free agent Al Jefferson is headed to Charlotte, according to multiple media reports.
Sources tell ESPN.com the Utah Jazz center, after a two-day visit with the Bobcats, has verbally agreed to a three-year contract with Charlotte worth $41 million.
The deal includes a player option after the second year.
Jefferson can’t sign the deal until July 10, which is the first day teams and free agents can make deals after the league’s annual moratorium is lifted.
Tyrus Thomas will be released this month via a one-time amnesty clause to create salary-cap space to sign Jefferson.
