Three more big companies have announced they are cutting ties with celebrity chef Paula Deen.
Target, Home Depot and Novo Nordisk are the latest to join other brands such as Walmart, Smithfield Foods and the Food Network that are distancing themselves from the Southern cooking star.
Target plans to phase out Deen’s cookware and other items; Home Depot has pulled all of Deen’s merchandise from their website; and Novo Nordisk — the drug company that makes the type 2 diabetes drug Deen promotes — has said it is parting ways with Deen.
Harra’s Casino and Resort in Cherokee also announced it would rename the Paula Deen’s Kitchen restaurant located inside the casino. The restaurant will feature an entirely new menu, but all of the restaurant’s employees will keep their jobs. Caesar’s — the company that owns the restaurant — is also closing or rebranding three other Deen-themed eateries across the country.
Deen has faced a lot of backlash since admitting in a deposition that she previously used a racial slur.
