BURLINGTON, N.C. — Troopers with the State Highway Patrol say a couple was arrested Wednesday after an officer who was conducting a traffic stop found drugs stuffed behind the a child’s car seat.
The Burlington Times-News reports Jaramillo Rosas Felipe, 27, and Leslie Faviola Alvarado, 20, both of Norcross, Ga., were stopped shortly after 11:45 p.m. on Interstate 40/85 near mile marker 148 in Burlington because the couple’s vehicle was weaving in its lane.
The couple had Alvarado’s 3-year-old daughter with them. More than 1,000 grams of methamphetamine was found in plastic containers wedged behind the child’s car seat, the Times-News reports.
The suspects are each charged with trafficking in methamphetamine. They were jailed in Alamance County under $800,000 secured bonds and had court appearances slated for Thursday afternoon.
