DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Winston-Salem man has been charged after authorities said he lost control of his car and hit two joggers, injuring both of them.
Anthony Edwin Wilson II, 40, was charged with reckless driving after troopers said he hit the victims Saturday morning in Davidson County.
North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Todd Gray said it happened around 7:45 a.m. in 2200 block of Friendship Ledford Road near a home.
The suspect is accused of driving a Corvette headed south too fast for a curve and losing control.
He allegedly crossed left of center, then veered back across the road and went off the right shoulder, striking the two joggers.
The trooper said the joggers were running north on the southbound side and could see the car coming. He said their quick responses probably saved their lives.
The official said the victims were taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. They were both identified as Winston-Salem men, ages 35 and 36.
The injuries reportedly include broken bones and a back injury, although specific details were not released. One of them was listed in good condition and information on the other was not available.
The trooper said there is no indication of alcohol, impairment or distraction and weather was not a factor.
