THOMASVILLE, N.C. — Deputies said they seized moonshine, drugs, guns and cash during a raid of a Thomasville man’s alleged moonshine operation.

Davidson County sheriff’s deputies said they raided the 350 Hogan Bowers Road home of Preston Wayne Porter, 38, after a five-month investigation.

During a search of his home, investigators said they seized a still and 88 quarts of moonshine. They also said they seized marijuana, methamphetamine, 113 doses of steroids, 57 doses of lorazapam, two doses of Opana, a pain medication, 19 long guns, seven handguns and $1,744.

Porter was charged with possession/sale of non-tax paid alcohol beverage, possession with intent to manufacture sell and deliver methamphetamine and possession with intent to manufacture sell and deliver a controlled substance, court records show.

Porter also faces number other charges, including two counts of felony maintaining a place for controlled substance.

Authorities said Porter turned himself in to the Guilford County Magistrate’s Office. Investigators did not say when they raided Porter’s home or when Porter turned himself in.

The suspect was released on a written promise to appear in court June 25.
