CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Three people were arrested after police said they robbed a bank in east Charlotte and then led police on a chase Monday morning.

WSOC reported that the suspects lost control of the getaway car, veered off the road and slammed into the sign for Rolling Oaks neighborhood.

Police said they were captured on foot off Lawyers Road.

Police said two men, one of whom was disguised as a woman, and a female suspect robbed the Bank of America on Albemarle Road just after it opened at 9 a.m.

Authorities said the car came to a rest just feet from a front door where a man’s home.

Officers said they were able to quickly nab all three. They said one of the male suspects was still clutching some of the money he took from the bank.

Police said the getaway car did have New Jersey license plates. They said they are now investigating with the FBI to see if these suspects are involved in other crime.
