GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Mellow Mushroom in Greensboro is closed due to damage caused by a roof leak.

The restaurant located at 609 S. Elm St. was closed yesterday after damaged caused by heavy rain on Sunday.

The restaurant posted this message on their Facebook wall:

We had a roof leak from the recent heavy rains that caused flooding in our store and the fire alarm to go off. Due to these circumstances we required by the Greensboro Fire Department to have the roof and electrical system reviewed prior to getting clearance to re-open. We have people coming in tomorrow morning to start this process and are hopeful we will open quickly. We will keep all updated. We appreciate your patience. Jim Waters, Mellow Mushroom . Please contact me at (C) 336-971-9766 with any questions.

Jim Waters, who owns the restaurant, told the News & Record yesterday’s downpours caused the fire alarm to go off. The Greensboro Fire Department ordered the power to be shut off until a roof and electrical inspection could be made.

Inspectors are expected to begin assessing today. Waters told the paper he hopes to reopen the restaurant today or tomorrow.
