GREENSBORO, N.C.– The Greensboro City Council is trying to decide what to do with the Cascade Saloon Building on Elm St. in downtown Greensboro.

The building is one of the oldest in the city, dating back to the late 1800s.

There have been two formal bids for the stabilization and construction costs that range from $700,000 to $950,000.

The city can demolish the building, stabilize and repair it or acquire the building, which would likely be done through eminent domain.

Funding for any of the options would most likely come from the Capital Reserve Fund.

The City Council plans to discuss the state of the building during its next budget work session.
