Police: NC man steals Walmart rifle, refuses to leave bathroom

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount police arrested a man accused of stealing a rifle for sale at a Walmart and refusing to leave the store’s bathroom.

WTVD reported that Ricky Edward Frazier, 44, of Rocky Mount, was charged after the incident Saturday afternoon at the store’s location at 1511 Benvenue Road.

Police said the suspect smashed a glass gun case and took out a rifle. They said he ran to the men’s restroom with the rifle at the back of the store and refused to leave.

Officers said they eventually took Frazier into custody. No injuries were reported.

Frazier is charged with larceny of a firearm, going armed to the terror of the public, and damage to property. He also faces charges for multiple outstanding warrants for driving violations.

Police said the suspect was placed in Nash County Jail under a $20,000 bond.
