Greensboro man charged with killing landlord

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Police say a Greensboro man has been charged with killing his landlord.

According to police, 26-year-old Curtis Leon Abney Jr. was arrested around 9 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment in Buies Creek, N.C. in the fatal shooting of 45-year-old Marwan Mukhiber Mujali.

Police say Mujali was found shot shortly after 10:45 a.m. Tuesday near his van at the Wendover Manor Apartments at 2504 East Wendover Ave.  The victim was taken by ambulance to Moses Cone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Abney lived at the apartment complex, and Mujali was the landlord of the complex, police said.

No other suspects are being sought, police said.

Abney is charged with first-degree murder.

The suspect is currently being held without bond in the Greensboro Jail Central.  He has a court appearance slated for Friday afternoon.

ALE agents assisted in arresting the suspect, police said.  The SBI and an FBI task force also helped with the investigation.
