Marshalls to fill former Sav-a-Lot, Walmart space in Asheboro
ASHEBORO, N.C. — A Marshalls department store is coming to Asheboro.
Justin Luck with the city’s planning and zoning office tells the Asheboro Courier-Tribune the retailer is renovating space at the former Sav-a-Lot Flooring Outlet at 1418 East Dixie Drive.
The location originally housed the city’s first Walmart, but was turned into Sav-a-Lot after the retail giant opened its “super store” down the road at Center Plaza.
Luck tells the paper the space has been subdivided. Marshalls will occupy a larger portion, while a second, 12,000-square-foot area is still available for lease, he said.
Developer Mike Ewton tells the Courier-Tribune construction will begin May 1. The renovations are expected to be complete by Aug. 1, after which Marshalls will stock the building and hire employees.
The store is expected to open in September.
