Burlington store robbed at gunpoint

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police are searching for two suspects who robbed a Burlington convenience store at gunpoint late Thursday night.

According to police, two men entered the Circus Food at 525 Elmira St. around 11:15 p.m. when one of them pulled out a handgun and ordered a customer who was inside the store not to move.

Police say the suspects tried to open the cash register, but could not.  One of the suspects then stole merchandise from the store before they both ran away.

The suspects were last seen headed south on Tillman Street near Wicker Street, police said.  Officers attempted to use a K-9 to track the suspects, but they were not found.

Ample suspect descriptions were not available.

No injuries were reported.
