Warrants obtained after shooting at scene of reported sexual assault

SUMMERFIELD, N.C. — The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office has obtained warrants on three people in connection to a shooting at the scene of a reported sexual assault.
Deputies said they responded to a report of a juvenile being sexually assaulted in the 7200 block of N.C. Highway 65 in Summerfield just before midnight Saturday.
While responding to the scene, they said they started to receive reports of a person being shot at the same location.
Deputies said they found Gary Lee Goodman, 35, of Greensboro, shot in the leg when they arrived.
Goodman was taken to Moses Cone Hospital to be treated for the injury, which did not appear to be life-threatening, deputies said.
Deputies said warrants on three people were obtained in the incident.
Goodman has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and indecent liberties with a minor. Deputies said he is still being treated for his injuries.
Tara Rashae Cashwell, 33, of Summerfield, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
Angus Dixon Cashwell, 30, of Greensboro, has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
They said they are still searching for Tara Rashae Cashwell and Angus Dixon Cashwell.
