BRYSON CITY, N.C. — A dog found in a western North Carolina dumpster beaten and wrapped in plastic is recovering and will be put up for adoption.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported that the dog was found Wednesday in a container off U.S. 19 outside Bryson City as a man was dropping off trash.

Thomas Carswell found the dog and said it had pushed his head and paws out of the bag. He said the dog was suffocating.

Veterinarians at Noah’s Ark Companion Animal Hospital in Franklin are caring for the dog, which is a Doberman-mix they named Bryson. The dog’s muzzle and face were injured.

Swain County does not have a county-run animal shelter. Authorities said they do not have any suspects.

Anyone interested in adopting the dog, can message Dawn Todd at dawntodd@noahsarkvet.us.
