NC A&T tops Liberty in first round of NCAA tournament
GREENSBORO, N.C. — North Carolina A&T pulled off a big win in the first round of the NCAA tournament against Liberty with a final score of 73-72.
This is the first time the Aggies have been in the NCAA tournament since 1995, and this time around they proved they remember how to dance.
Nearly 500 students and alumni packed into the student center on campus to cheer on their men’s team.
“It is so exciting for the simple fact it’s A&T and it’s been 18 years, as long as I’ve been alive,” says Marisha Avery, a freshman at NC A&T.
Social media showed that the Aggie Pride stretched nationwide. Tiffany S. Jones is in charge of A&T’s twitter account and says this has been a busy week, and that the official account has been receiving tweets from Greensboro to Germany.
“We are trending worldwide on Twitter. Awesome stuff,” says Jones says.
The Aggies will take on the overall #1 seed Louisville on Thursday.
There will be another watch party on campus.
