WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Winston-Salem woman said that the moment she realized she’d won a $135,370 Carolina Cash 5 jackpot was like an “out of body experience.”

Lottery officials said Charlynn Schultz bought the lucky ticket at the Circle C on Hickory Tree Road in Winston-Salem.

They said her ticket for the March 9 drawing matched all five numbers, beating odds of 1 in 575,757 to win the jackpot.

“I was just about to go to bed when I got on the computer to check my numbers,” Schultz said, according to a prepared statement. “I saw a couple of my numbers matched and thought I had won a dollar. Then I kept seeing them match, one after the other. I didn’t know where I was for a minute. It was just surreal, like a wave coming over me.”

Officials said her winnings are worth $92,051 after taxes. She said she plans to use her winnings to pay bills and help pay for her children’s education.

“This is all so overwhelming,” Schultz said as she held her check for the first time. “I feel so blessed.”
